With Alaska in our rear view mirror, we take the Top of the World Highway from Tok to the town of Chicken, then on to the Canadian border.
Chicken is a great stop. This little mining town has turned into a destination of sorts. It was named by the miners who captured and ate the local ptarmagin to sustain themselves. The small birds resemble and taste like chicken. And since the miners couldn’t spell ptarmagin, they named the town Chicken in their honor.
Top of the World is a unique, mostly gravel road that it runs the ridge line of a series of mountains. It crosses into Canada at what is known as the loneliest border crossing. (Border crossing at bottom right of photo.)

From there, the road descends to the Yukon River Ferry, crossing over to the Dawson City..

We refueled here and stopped by the market for a deli sandwich. On to the Dempster!
